England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) hosted a Tapeball Cricket showcase event on the18th April and launched a brand new National Core Cities Tape Ball Competition on the as part of continuing efforts to make cricket the most inclusive sport with invited Flicx to help turn a former Birmingham gas works into a cricket venue with the wow factor to match the fast paced, exciting Tapeball action that ensued.
Ahead of the two upcoming England v Pakistan series this summer, a former gas works in Birmingham was transformed into a festival of cricket and South Asian culture with a 2G Flicx Pitch providing a bold, bright centre piece.
Our roll out cricket pitch solution means you can play anywhere and this was an event which perfectly matches our core purpose and why the Flicx Pitch was developed – to give more people an opportunity to play cricket and take cricket into new places and communities, making the game more accessible.
The tape ball showcase featured England players Adil Rashid, Heather Knight and Dawid Malan as well as celebrities including Heather Fisher (Rugby World Cup winner), Kate Lawler (Big Brother 2 winner), Jess Watkins (Football Content Creator), Jasmine Boatswain (Traitors), Kai Fagen (Love Island) and more plus grassroots cricketers from around the country and children who are part of Chance to Shine within the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation area. Vibrant music, entertainment, DJs, dancing and food added to the spectacle #ENGvPAK
Flicx offered to bring a pitch to the event following a conversation with Mohammed Arif from the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation. He commented “The 2G Flicx Pitch really brought this event to life. Everyone commented how fantastic it looked and it was great to have a realistic surface for the Tapeball games to be played on”. We are really grateful to Flicx for supporting the event, it just goes to show that lots of different venues can be opened up for cricket with a product like this.”
“I see lots of opportunities within the various projects that the Community team at Warwickshire Cricket Foundation are delivering to ensure that we maintain our cricket without limits mantra where the 2G Flicx Pitch can be a really powerful tool to grow the game and create new, exciting urban facilities including for Tapeball Cricket”

Sabah Hamed, the ECB’s Diverse Communities Volunteer Manager, added: “We want to ensure access to playing cricket is possible no matter where you’re from or what facilities are around you and tape ball cricket is a vital format of the game in helping reach communities in key cities across the country.
