RECYCLING YOUR 2G FLICX PITCH

As ambitions turn towards a greener game, tackling climate change and promoting environmental sustainability within the game of cricket. Flicx is looking at how our pitches can be more environmentally friendly, while mitigating our environmental impact.

Recyclability:

2G Flicx Pitches are made of a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) interlocking tiles where 60% is made up of recyclate and 40% is virgin material. LDPE is a widely recycled material in the UK. After the life of a 2G Flicx Pitch, it can be recycled. Materials can be recovered to be used again keeping materials in use and diminishing the wastage of resourceful materials. In the design and manufacture of the 2G Flicx Pitches we aim to mitigate our waste as much as possible reducing our environmental impact and maximising the usage of materials. During the production phase there is minimal waste produced, connecting lugs that are removed from the pitch are collected to be recycled. 

Design and Long Life:

The principle of repairing and long life is important part of the circular economy model. Designing long lasting and durable products that are easily repaired, removing the need to throw away and create new products. Flicx Pitches are made up of modular interlocking tiles and in the case a tile may wear during its life, all tiles are easily replaceable. Our Pitches have been designed to be durable and long-lasting portable cricket wickets. All our pitches have a 5-year warranty and a 10-year expected lifespan. Some of our pitches from the late 1990’s still going strong with good maintenance and by following our manufacturers guidance. international customer – how long will my pitch take to arrive?

We quote all international orders with a bespoke delivery quote based on location. This can be by air or sea depending which is quickest or most cost effective. Once your pitch is manufactured and ready to dispatch again we will be in touch to confirm the delivery provider and service used. Your original quote will also confirm if any duties need to be paid on arrival and any custom documents required.

Flicx and a greener game

If you are purchasing a pitch, batting end or throwdown with a logo, do allow an extra week for printing. A high res logo needs to be supplied and we can send mock ups ahead of your order to confirm placement and colours. We can also match a pitch to a specific pantone shade to create fully branded pitches for sponsors to use in fan engagement, activation events. If bespoke tiles are required longer lead times apply (typically an extra month) but these pitches look epic !!

End of Life – 

If you no longer wish to use your 2G Flicx Pitch … you have 3 options which we can support your with to recycle your pitch

  1. If you purchase a new pitch, Flicx will also pick up and recycle your old pitch for you at no charge
  2. If you are not planning to purchase another Flicx Pitch, we can arrange a collection and recycle your old pitch for a one off nominal payment to cover transport costs (£75 UK only) 
  3. It is possible to take your old pitch to your local recycling centre and put in the plastics recycling skip for reuse.

We have played with regular leather balls and hard tennis balls and the bounce has been very consistent. The synthetic surface provides good grip for both the batsmen and bowler.
