During the past few weeks Flicx Pitches have hosted a number of cricket festivals (both hardball and softball). Using a 2G Flicx Pitch has a number of benefits including …
- Less ground preparation saving TIME and MONEY
- Less wear and tear on the ground
- Open up new venues to host cricket festivals including synthetic pitches, parks, football / playing fields
- Host more games at the same time
- Elevate the playing experience for players by having a proper demarcated wicket
Festival formats are becoming more popular especially with more and more girls and women getting the opportunity to play cricket so we have seen grounds host softball festivals including on Sunday with the Surrey Cricket Foundation at the oval with 11 teams involved.
June also saw many chance to compete finals days with lots of children getting the opportunity to represent their school whilst School Games Organisers also have been running festivals locally with winning teams going on to represents their area in county finals.
Chippenham Cricket Club hosted the Forest Heath Sports Partnership U11 Girls Dynamo cricket competition which saw 4 batting ends rolled out on the outfield to host the festival where St Louis Catholic Primary School beat St Mary’s CofE Academy, Mildenhall in the final.
Pink pitches added a new bold, exciting dimension to the event whilst the Flicx Pitches give a true and consistent bounce which is where some outfields struggle in terms of hosting events of this kind and therefore profiling their club to potential players.
Inspiring Experiences
County Boards and Foundations are running various events to grow the game with the likes of Lancashire, Essex and Surrey all using 2G Flicx Pitches for festivals including women’s softball tournaments on the outfield of major test grounds whilst Sussex have two batting ends in their new famzone making match days a more interactive experience.
It’s striking how diverse these events are with diverse communities benefitting including state school children and those in the Wicketz, Ace or Chance to Shine programmes.
These once in a lifetime experiences will only foster a deeper connection with cricket and hopefully a long term passion for the game
