2G Flicx Pitches supported the inaugural Lancashire Cricket Foundation (LCF) Spirit of Cricket Festival and Community Day at the Emirates Old Trafford last week.
The whole day was a real celebration of success with the LCF releasing their impact report showing significant increases in participation across the game.
The 2G Flicx Pitches were a real enabler here as they protected the ground from wear and tear / damage so for this reason the ground staff were fully supportive. Hopefully it can become an annual event with more and more young players getting the chance to have an incredible experience playing at Old Trafford!
Flicx provided two full 2G Flicx Match Pitches for the festival so with the existing Blue #wicketz pitch that the LCF had access too we created 6 batting ends for pupils from Chance to Shine programmes across the North West to come and use. The pitches provided a realistic and consistent bounce and demarcated area to play
The LCF staff and coaches ran some brilliant games which took place on the outfield, and this was the first time in many, many years that the LCF had access to the ground for an event of this kind. What an experience for the kids and some excellent examples of the spirit of cricket in action were displayed!!
In the afternoon we joined some of the batting ends together to make two full pitches and with the two remaining batting ends hosting games off one end so 4 games took place simultaneously. The community festival included a girls softball tournament as well as matches featuring ACE, Wicketz and Street participants, all enjoying this unique opportunity to play in the same stadium as their heroes.
“It was great to have Flicx Pitches at the festival, we would not have been able to play on the ground had Kate not made the eight-hour round trip up North! We split the 2G Flicx pitches in half which enabled us to run several games across Emirates Old Trafford ground. The set up was quick and easy and the pitches enabled us to protect the outfield whilst also adding to the overall atmosphere of the games and event. The festival literally couldn’t have gone ahead without Kate and the Flicx quality 2G Flicx pitches, so a massive thank you again to Kate for supplying them for the event!’
LCF Schools Manager Jordan Clarke
