This is a short video demonstration how to roll out and back up, the 2G Flicx Pitch. Thanks to Chippenham Cricket Club in Cambridgeshire for helping us film this video. It is possible to do this alone, but 2 people is recommended and will mean you can roll your pitch out in around 5-10 minutes once you are familiar with the process.
When using the 2G Flicx Pitch on grass there are a few important preparation steps to give you optimal performance and provide consistent bounce. Choose a firm, flat area to roll the pitch out on before cutting the grass down short to 15mm and filling in any high spots or divots. If you can go over this area with a roller at pre-season this will further improve the pace and bounce you will achieve when the Flicx Pitch is rolled out over the top.
The 2G Flicx Pitch is supplied in two half pitch batting end rolls which clip together in the middle in 5 minutes to form your full match pitch. The batting ends can also be used separately for training or games off one end, as the pitch is quick and easy to roll out and can be transported with trolley included.
Quick steps to correctly rolling out your full 2G Flicx Pitch
- Get the two half pitch rolls and place in the middle of your cut grass area
- Place both rolls flat on the ground and release the straps on the male side slightly
- Lift the female side (one person at each end is best) so the ends of the rolls line up.
- Clip a couple of tiles at each end together
- Release the other strap and then clip the full length of the pitch together working towards the middle. Use your foot or thumb (or a mallet if the ground is very, very soft)
- Roll both ends out
- Leave the pitch to settle for around 30 minutes before use (unfold both ends to speed up this process)
