This pitch is effective with real leather cricket balls (to realistically prepare for club and school matches), tapeballs, incrediballs, bowling machine balls and tennis balls. Coloured coaching targets on the skills pitch will help leg spin bowlers to get a consistent line and length. Unlike many traditional artificial surfaces, where the ball will go straight on, the Flicx Pitch tiles are grippy and enable bowlers to build muscle memory in their ‘bowling action’ by aiming for certain target tiles and then spinning the ball onto the wicket.

Our skills design is extremely popular in gardens, as the colour coded zones allow batsmen to develop their decision making and for bowlers to develop consistency with their line and length. Games can be created with point scoring systems combined with a bowling machine or by one of your house members feeding balls to develop your technique – The targets will help with feeding accuracy too!

In terms of preparation you need a firm, flat area and the grass cut down short to 15mm, so the pitch is flush to your base. Each week we would recommend rolling the pitch to one side whilst you mow under your pitch to keep the grass short underneath which will give you optimal performance. The 2G Flicx Pitch will also work on top of astro or on an artificial subbase which is relatively inexpensive to construct.
