2022 has been an incredible year at Flicx, it has been great to continue contributing to the development of sport at a grassroots level with many organisations across the UK and worldwide. The 2022 year has produced some great highlights, this Christmas season and over the next 12 days we look back at what a remarkable year it has been.

Day 1:

Flicx featured at the Sky Sports x The Hundred Activation days held in Manchester and London across July. Where the likes of England cricketing legends Tammy Beaumont, Eoin Morgan, Elle Threlkeld and Nasser Hussain attended to offer their coaching expertise and advice to the participating public members. Two branded pitches with large logos the entire length of the pitch was provided by Flicx for the activation days. Members of the public got involved and played their shots on a Flicx Pitch and rubbed shoulders with the England Legends. It was great to see the community getting engaged with the activation day and enjoying some cricket on the Flicx Pitch.

Day 2:

Day 2 travels all the way to Colombia.  Flicx was created with the aim and ideology to provide a portable cricket pitch to all corners of the world, to grow, and develop cricket as a sport. It has done just that in Colombia. The portability of the Flicx Pitch negated the issue of lack of space allowing the pitch to be put down on existing soccer and baseball fields which are currently more popular sports in Colombia. The pitch has provided the opportunity for cricket to flourish in Colombia as well as create the awareness it has needed to grow.

Day 3:

On the 3rd day of Christmas, we look back at the highlight with Fulham football club. Willian, Reed and Tete Fulham football stars switched sports for the day and took up Cricket. Coached by England Legends Sir Geoffrey Boycott and Nick Compton. The three Fulham footballers tried their luck with cricket on a Flicx batting end. Harrison Reed show casing his cricketing talent and hitting the ball to all parts of the ground.

Day 4:

An amazing highlight on day 4 is the incredible collaboration story, where a Flicx Pitch was funded by three organisations which included Ashcombe School, Surrey Cricket Foundation and Dorking Cricket Club. The Flicx pitch expanded indoor and outdoor cricket facilities for both Dorking and Ashcombe, providing a consistent and true cricket surface for both organisations to grow and develop cricket within their communities.

Day 5:

The Countdown Cricket Cup in Cardiff Castle, an initiative to get kids and adults involved in cricket in the surrounding areas. Flicx was grateful to attend this initiative where we provided two Flicx Pitches for all to take part. A talented team of refugees won the tournament. Bringing them into the community through cricket. It was a great day with an incredible backdrop of the Castle, thanks to Cricket Wales for having us.

Day 6:

Day 6’s highlights are a little closer to home. Flicx has had great success this year in providing instant access to training facilities at home with a Home Academy Bundle. Some great memories this year have been created in many backyards across the UK. The 2G Flicx Pitch has revolutionised cricket training and allowed customers to develop skills and passion for the game of cricket in the comfort of their back yards. More specifically a home customer, Chris Turner, the Pitch has been a great hit at the Turner household amongst dad and son with many battles in the back yard between bat and ball.

Day 7:

Day 7 looks at the development of cricket at Cranford House. Three 2G Flicx pitches were delivered to the Cranford House School sports department ahead of the 2022 cricket season. The Flicx Pitches have been of great benefit to Cranford House allowing for the expansion of their existing cricket facilities and aiding in the development of the students’ cricketing skills. The all-NEW Skills/ Hybrid design introduced this year by Flicx has been a favourite of Cranford’s comprising of half a skills pitch and half a multi age pitch with multiple crease line options.

Day 8:

The annual Surrey Disability Day is our day 8 highlight. The incredible day where over 400 children and young adults across the county came for a day filled with cricket, socialising, and most importantly fun. Flicx brought along three pitches to the annual day at the Kennington Oval. Two pitches were used at one of the many stations scattered on the outfield, where the young adults and children developed their bowling skills and improved their techniques. We at Flicx were honoured to part of such an incredible day.

Day 9:

The 9th highlight looks at Flicx partaking in the Cricketer Indoor Testing Day. The Flicx pitch was laid down at Emanuel School for famous Club Cricket Guide testing day, where a branded Skills pitch was tried and tested by various club cricketers and journalists and thousands of pounds worth of bats are put through their paces.  The pitch was a massive hit amongst the participating members and received many positive reviews.

Day 10:

The Flicx pitch also provided great flexibility at Frimley Phoenix CC this year allowing them to expand their facilities and grow their juniors and ladies’ teams as well as facilitating extra senior training capacity with one of their pitches. The pitch has been of great benefit to Frimley allowing them to just roll out the pitch and allow the juniors or Ladies to have games running at the same time as the men’s 1st and 2nd teams. Alongside this, the woman’s soft ball cricket festival was held on the Flicx pitch with some incredible achievements towards growing the game of Cricket. Most who played in the festival were new to cricket, and the age range of the participants was 15- 60 creating an all-inclusive environment for all to enjoy their cricket.

Day 11:

Cricket in state schools in Surrey have benefited from the developing partnership between the Surrey Cricket Foundation and Flicx UK in 2022. Fullbrook School was the first lucky receipt of a pitch donation, and this project was chosen due to the impact that the pitch would have on the schools expanding cricket programme. The Flicx pitch will play a big role in developing state school cricket in the area and nurturing talent.

Day 12:

The 12th and final day of Christmas looks back at Flicx Pitches in Australia. 43 pitches were sent to Australia this year for Clubs and Schools across the six states on the back of the partnership already created with Cricket Australia and the GCF where funding is available to help clubs grow their facilities. The container completely sold out with some pitches being sent to the likes of Kincumber Avoca CC, Ringwood CC, Heathmont CC and Seaforth CC. It is great to be a part of the growth and development of grassroots cricket around the world and expansion of cricket facilities.
